Work is
progressing slowly but surely on the Sacred Heart House, which will
be a home for adult spiritual and faith formation for our parish
family. As of August 10, we were in the process of hanging the dry
wall and preparing for the painting and flooring work that will

The work has
been able to continue through the generosity of many people who
given of their time and talents to assist with the construction and
renovation. Even with all the donated materials and labor, which
probably totals close to $50,000 so far, however, we are still in
need of monetary donations to keep the construction going. If you
are able to make a gift, please check out our current
wish list.
In case you are
unfamiliar with the history behind this project, one of our parish
families very generously purchased and donated to our church the
house at 5 E. Loma Linda. This house sits immediately across from
our church and is next door to the priests’ home. The new floor
plan for the Sacred Heart House allows us to continue to use it as a
home, providing living space for visiting guests of our parish and
our Holy Cross and Salesian religious communities. At the same time,
the plan includes a large living room along with a kitchenette and
dining room that we plan to use for small adult faith groups. There
will also be other smaller meeting spaces that we will use for
counseling and marriage preparation when not otherwise occupied. The
backyard, when fully landscaped, will include both a prayer garden
and a barbeque pit, so that ministries from our parish can use the
house for retreats and social gatherings.

We want to close
by asking for your prayers for this amazing project. We need both to
give thanks to God for the great generosity that has already been
shown to our parish as well as ask for His continued assistance with
this project.
